Course of the Month – Highbridge Hills, Wisconsin
August 11, 2010
Our second course of the month covers a huge Disc Golf complex out of Northern Wisconsin – Highbridge Hills. Eric Townley has been kind enough to supply the below article and a TON of great images that detail why it’s one of his favorite vacation spots and one of the leading courses in the country.
We are currently searching for our next course of the month entry – check out how easy it is to get your name and favorite course up on our site.

Highbridge Hills Disc Golf Complex
by Eric Townley
Highbridge Hills is located near Lake Superior on one of the highest hilltops in Ashland County. This area is ideal for disc golf, biking, camping, hiking, snowboarding, skiing and tubing. Not only is HIghbridge HIlls an ideal atmosphere to play and relax, it also practices “green” standards by building and creating the property certified organic. The layout for Highbridge Hills disc golf courses is spread out over 300 acres. Upon completion, ten courses will dot the country side, 180 holes total. We have the largest disc golf complex in the world.
Highbridge Hills Sports Complex (HHSC) was founded by John Jokinen in 2004. Starting with disc golf courses, he continues to develop the land every year adding additional courses, biking and hiking trails, campgrounds, lodging accommodations and continually schedules a wide variety of winter and summer outdoor activity events! The biggest event held so far was the 26th PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships™ that took place August 1-5, 2007. Nearly 400 players from 10 different countries were there to engage in the most important disc golf event of the year at the largest disc golf facility in the world… Highbridge Hills. Night disc golf at Highbridge Hills is a one-of-a-kind experience. Baskets are illuminated every night and lights just bright enough to walk and play are lit in Chestnut Grove, our 9-hole course next to the campground. Hole # 5 is the weekly scene on Saturday night of a huge bon fire. “You must throw through, around, or over the fire!” Our campers and guests make the most of it to experience disc golf most uniquely… only in Highbridge!

Highbridge Hills is a disc golf mecca: a whole bunch of world-class courses in one spot, really cool people, good camping/lodging, fun atmosphere, etc. Every disc golfer should try to hit it up at least once. HH is sweet!
Leave some comment love if you have been there.
I’m going to do my best to make it out here next year. The course looks amazing.
