GEAR
Welcome to our "Gear" section. Here you can read a quick overview on some of the basic gear you will need to improve at Disc Golf. Also, be sure to check our homepage for reviews on discs and other products. Please keep in mind that the opinions displayed are our own and certain equipment may not be necessary for all players.
DISCS
If you are new to the sport it may come as a
surprise the wide variety of disc types with
deviations in designs, weights and plastics. There
is a method behind the madness as each disc is
designed to fly in unique patterns. Innova Discs
has a great tool on their website to help you
choose the right disc for your needs. In the
future we will add a video to our tutorials page
that will explain some of the basic theories
behind disc variations.
For beginners, we recommend starting off with
only 3 discs -a putter, mid-range and driver.
You can get all three in starter sets from many
online retailers. Some would argue that you only
need a driver and a putter, but regardless, the
best approach is to get as comfortable as possible
throwing these same discs for at least a few
months before expanding your arsenal.
BAGS
As you acquire more discs, it would be
a good idea to purchase a Disc Golf bag.
Proper back support and room for
scorecards, a drink and mini discs
should definitely be considered. These
bags come in many varieties and are
also readily available at many online
retailers.
BASKETS
As with ball golf, a great short game can make up for less
than stellar drives. Purchasing a basket is the best way to
improve your putting and approaches and can definitely
give you an edge on the competition. Baskets come in many styles and vary in how sturdy and
travel-friendly you desire them to be. So do some
research before buying and choose the one that best suits
your needs.
