gear page baskets post

As with ball golf, a great short game can make up for less
than stellar drives. Purchasing a basket is the best way to
improve your putting and approaches and can definitely
give you an edge on the competition. Baskets come in many styles and vary in how sturdy and
travel-friendly you desire them to be. So do some
research before buying and choose the one that best suits
your needs.

the game in a very causal

gear page disc post

December 21, 2009

If you are new to the sport it may come as a
surprise the wide variety of disc types with
deviations in designs, weights and plastics. There
is a method behind the madness as each disc is
designed to fly in unique patterns. Innova Discs
has a great tool on their website to help you
choose the right disc for your needs. In the
future we will add a video to our tutorials page
that will explain some of the basic theories
behind disc variations.

For beginners, we recommend starting off with
only 3 discs -a putter, mid-range and driver.
You can get all three in starter sets from many
online retailers. Some would argue that you only
need a driver and a putter, but regardless, the
best approach is to get as comfortable as possible
throwing these same discs for at least a few
months before expanding your arsenal.

As you acquire more discs, it would be
a good idea to purchase a Disc Golf bag.
Proper back support and room for
scorecards, a drink and mini discs
should definitely be considered. These
bags come in many varieties and are
also readily available at many online
retailers.

about page disc golf basic post

December 21, 2009

Disc Golf is a fantastic sport that can be as casual or as competitive as you would like it to be. The sport’s popularity has grown rapidly since the early 70’s when formalization efforts began to take shape. The object of the game is the same as traditional ball golf, where players have a starting point and target (a basket in this case) and must reach the target in as few throw as possible.
Most courses feature 9 or 18 holes with some having 27 or more
Most holes are played as a par 3 with distances between 200 and 450 feet however par 4’s, 5’s and beyond do exist on certain courses
There are over 40,000 PDGA (Professional Disc Golf Association) members and growing exponentially
PDGA membership is not required to play the sport causally or to enter some tournaments
The game is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages, male and female, regardless of economic status as many courses are free to play
There are now more than 2,500 courses worldwide, including 1500+ in the USA and Canada
Today, the tour purse reaches nearly 2 million dollars
